  • INFLUENZA

Its back – as expected, the changing weather has seen a marked rise in the number of cases of Influenza WHY DO INFLUENZA CASES INCREASE DURING CHANGE OF WEATHER? Flu viruses are more stable and last longer in colder, drier conditions. The droplets of fluids that people spray with sneezes and coughs are smaller at lower temperatures, so the droplets carry much farther and stay suspended in the air longer, and are inhaled deeper into the lungs. In cold weather, the mucus in the nose is thicker and it clogs up the passages, thereby preventing the normal expulsion of viruses, allowing them to remain in the respiratory passages. Immunity is low during the change of season.
